About Mediation Services

What is Mediation: Mediation is a confidential process for problem-solving, in which an impartial third party helps people in dispute make informed decisions to resolve their differences. It is a future-focused, solution-oriented process that encourages respect, fairness, privacy, self-determination and concern for the needs of all participants. Energy is not spent on determining right and wrong, Rather, emphasis is placed on functional solution.

In Tennessee, mediation is guided byTennessee Supreme Court Rule 31.

How It Works: Using the collaborative process, PDRS mediations help parties experience a sense of procedural justice in which, win or lose they have been fully heard and have control of the outcome. All PDRS mediators are Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 listed neutrals, whose role is to provide an environment for open, honest discussion and informed decision-making that ensures self-determination and confidentiality. Confidentiality of your matter begins with your first contact with our office.

How To Get Started: PDRS mediations are scheduled by appointment Monday through Friday. Our goal is to provide the opportunity for clients to resolve their matters in a time-efficient, cost-effective manner and leave with a signed, notarized agreement. While follow-up sessions do occur, we recognize that when people come to mediation, they are ready to move beyond the conflict and “get on with their lives”. Although, our schedule anticipates completion of the mediation in one session, additional session are scheduled based on the needs of the parties.
